What’s on the machine Wed. 1/18

Here it is Wednesday again. I loaded this quilt on Viqtoria today. It’s just going to be basted before moving it over onto Millie. I have no idea how to quilt it…….. Hopefully something will come to me.

I finished the cross hatching on this one last night. So it came off Millie this morning. I haven’t loaded another one on her yet.

Flying geese

I’ve been working on FG units today. I do the no waste method. In case you haven’t seen it I’ll share the steps I do to end up with 4 FG units and NO waste. Using 1 large square and 4 small squares…

I use a little glue and baste the smaller squares down on the big square, then I mark my lines…..

Sew on the marked lines and cut apart, press, then lay one of the small squares on the piece, mark and sew as before….

Cut apart and press open. You will now have 4 flying geese units and no waste.

Back to my geese now……

Design wall Monday 1/16

Here’s what I have on the design wall. I worked yesterday getting the rest of the blocks pieced together. I’m putting a pieced sashing between the blocks, which I haven’t cut out yet. Hopefully I can get the pieces cut and sewn this week. I don’t care much for this so far……………….

. I’m hoping I’ll like it better after I get the sashing in there.

Today was another day of staying in my workroom. I decided that I better get started on the lock in mystery quilt for this year. The lock in is on March 10th, so we better get busy! Anyway, here is my fabric choices..

Maxine quilt

Tonight is my guild meeting and we are giving away this Maxine quilt. I sure hope I win!!

I will also be showing my first finished UFO for the year. Yea!!! Each month we will have a prize for one person that shows a finished UFO. I wonder if I could be lucky enough to win both the quilt and the UFO prize???? Not with my luck!! But it’s always fun to dream!!

What’s on the machine Wednesday? 1/11/12

Since I am going to try to post more often. I thought I would share what’s on the machine on Wednesdays. This is what’s on Viqtoria, I shrunk the pantograph down to 5″ and I put it between the rows. I took part of the pantograph and am placing it between the blocks. It’s a sunflower pantograph and we thought since this is a Kansas quilt that would be great on it. After I finish that I will put it over on Millie to do the blocks.

I am still working on this one.It’s been on and off Millie numerous times so while I have a little time I am working more on it.

If they gave out prizes for being a procrastinator, I would win lots of prizes!! This is natural to me. I have lots of time and then all of a sudden the minutes are gone and I'm late! I think I need to get one of these!!

Design wall Monday 1/2/12

I’m not very good at staying up with blogging, but I’m going to try better this year. That should be my new years resolution. I wonder how many new years resolutions I’ve made in my life? A lot I’m sure!! I have only managed to keep one of them. 2 years ago I decided that my new years resolution would be to see if I could keep homemade cookies in the cookie jar for one whole year. Guess what? I’ve done it for 2 years in a row now! I used to make cookies all the time but over the years I started buying cookies and hardly ever made them any more. Now I’m back in the groove of making cookies and I must say I do love home made cookies. Ok so much for that.

On to what’s on my design wall. I’ve spent most of the day doing custom work on the quilt that I’ve been working on. I’ve sat down and sewed a little bit today, I managed to get one block pieced. I’m not sure if I like these fabrics……..my friend Sharon helped pick them out. They are more her colors than mine. I’m sure Sharon will like it!

New years day sewing!

What a great way to start the year. Church this morning and then sewing and quilting the rest of the day! I call that a great day!! I worked on the new quilt that I’m making. I have some of the HST’s sewn, the rest of them are marked. I made one of the small blocks that are made of triangle rectangles. That doesn’t sound like it makes sense! Anyway, here’s where I’m at on the progress……

I got the binding attached onto the quilt that I quilted yesterday. I need to have the binding sewn down before my next guild meeting. It would be great to start the new year getting credit for finishing a UFO. This year we’re going to have a drawing at each meeting for anyone that brings in a finished UFO. Maybe I can win a prize. That would be nice!! The quilt is like 100″ square…….wish me luck with getting it done. LOL!!

The rest of the day I was quilting. Hopefully tomorrow will be another productive day.

That’s it for now. I’m tired and going to bed!
